LAWAS: Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union (KGBS) Lawas Branch organised several events in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of 60 years of KGBS at Lawas level recently.

According to its spokesman who is also KGBS Lawas Branch Chairman, Mudihi Kader Abdullah, among the activities held were petanque competition between KGBS Lawas Branch members, dinner as well as friendly game of petanque between AJK KGBS Lawas Branch and AJK KGBS Limbang Branch.

In addition to commemorating the anniversary of the establishment of KGBS, the purpose of holding the events was to foster rapport between KGBS Lawas Branch members and strengthening relationships between two nearer KGBS branches namely Limbang and Lawas.

He hoped that the KGBS Lawas Branch members would continue to provide strong support to the leadership of the branch in an effort to promote the welfare of its members.

Meanwhile, he also urged teachers to participate in KGBS as a forum and channel for voicing any issue that needs to be raised to a higher level.

The event was also attended by Lawas District Education Officer Awang Ibrahim Ahmad, KGBS President Ahmad Malie and KGBS Secretary-General Awang Adrus Awang Ramlee.
