KUCHING: More than 16,000 Muslims of all ages attended the Kembara Cinta Rasul Petra Jaya, featuring Indonesian Islamic preacher Ustaz Abdul Somad Batubara, at Jamek Mosque here, last night (Sept 30).

The mosque grounds started buzzing with activity as early as 4pm, as devout Muslims came to offer their prayers in anticipation of Ustaz Abdul Somad’s discourse.

The arrival of Ustaz Abdul Somad was graced by the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and programme advisor, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, around 8.30pm.

Upon his arrival, the programme commenced with the congregation engaging in selawat and zikr.

The audience was brimming with enthusiasm as they eagerly awaited Ustaz Abdul Somad’s talk, titled ‘Piagam Madinah, Asas Perpaduan Ummah.’

To accommodate the large turnout, a tent was thoughtfully erected in front of the mosque, providing a comfortable space for Muslims to partake in the grand event.

Also present during the programme were Deputy Energy and Environmental Sustainability Minister Dr Hazland Abang Hipni; Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) president Datuk Misnu Taha; North City Hall Council Mayor Hilmy Othman and others.
