SIBU: Police arrested a 41-year-old man and seized 31.5 grams of drugs worth RM6,300 at Jalan Kampung Hilir on Sunday (Oct 1).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the man was nabbed by officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigations Department (NCID) around 3.45 pm.
“Inspection found five packets containing crystallised substance suspected to be methamphetamine” he said in a statement yesterday (Oct 3).
Zulkipli said the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine/amphetamine.
“The suspect was remanded for investigation under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he added.
If convicted under Section 39A (2), the suspect may face life imprisonment, or a minimum of five years in jail, and not less than 10 strokes of the rotan.
Section 15(1), carries a fine of up to RM5,000 or two years jail or both upon conviction.
