KUCHING: Sarawak does not rule out the possibility to collaborate with Penang in their respective digital agendas and digital transformation reforms.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state has implemented its digital economy agenda for the past few years, while Penang also has its own digital transformation plan.
“On this collaboration, the state has the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018-2022 and is moving forward towards the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 which has just been launched.
“For Penang, the state also has certain strengths in their industry, while Sarawak also has its own strengths.
“Penang has many Information Technology (IT) companies and plants, while Sarawak has abundant energy resources,” he said at a press conference after officiating the 27th World Congress on Innovation and Technology| 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (WCIT|IDECS 2023) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), here today (Oct 4).
In this regard, Abang Johari said, the two states can work together on the potential of cooperation that will bring a positive impact in the development of talent for the technology field.
“Both Penang and Sarawak can boost Malaysia’s position forward with the contribution from both states,” he said.
