SIBU: Eighteen Lions Clubs under District 308-A2 Region 2 & Region 3 have gone rural to jointly organise longhouse fire drill and donation of three units of fire extinguishers to Rumah Zachius Nyalu in Song recently.

The Lions Clubs involved were Kapit, Song, Sibu Host, Sibu Mandarin, Sibu Pahlawan, Sibu Berjaya, Sibu City, Sibu Jaya, Sibu Sungai Merah, Sibu Bawang Assan, Sibu Nangka, Sibu Queensway, Sibu Dudong, Sibu Rejang, Sibu Loving Care, Bintangor, Sarikei and Mukah.

In a joint press release, the Lions Clubs said they also distributed school bags and stationaries to 36  rural needy students.

The longhouse fire drill conducted by Song Fire Brigade (Bomba) also held a fire safety demonstration and talk.

Present to hand over the contribution were District Governor Kapitan Ronny Hiew and Immediate Past District Govenor Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua.

Among those in attendance were Past District Governor Datuk Betty Wong Yieng, District Region 2 Chairperson Dixon Chiu, District Region 3 Chairperson Vincent Lau and various Lions Clubs’ Presidents and members.
