KUCHING: A kitchen helper became the victim of armed robbers while she was walking home early yesterday.

According to the 18-year-old girl from Kampung Selang Laut, Telaga Air, the incident occurred at around 12.20am when two men on a motorcycle stopped beside her with one of them, who was armed with a knife, demanded her to surrender her purse to him.

Fearing for her life, she immediately handed over her purse to the suspects.

The victim reported that the purse contained RM107, ATM cards, phone cards and personal documents.

Meanwhile, a mechanic lodged a police report after his workplace at Pending Commercial Centre here was broken into yesterday.

The 40-year-old man from Pending said he arrived at his workplace at around 7.50am and discovered that the front roller shutter of the premises had been damaged.

He said upon checking the workshop he found that several tyres, a welding set, several bottles of motor oil and RM200 were missing.

Police were investigating both cases.
