KUCHING: Malaysia Hwang Chamber of Commerce (MHCC) aims to integrate and consolidate the digital economy, finance, trade, investment, tourism, green culture, economic corridors and smart technology landscape in the Asian region to cater to the significant global development trend.
Its president Prof Ng Po Kok said MHCC is committed to exploring international exchanges, establishing friendly relations and creating new opportunities for business and tourism in line with the current economic trends in the world.
“Today, we will have the opportunity to listen to speeches and discussions from the Sarawak state government, reputed entrepreneurs from across Asia, representatives of small and medium industrial development agencies in Malaysia, bankers, conservation culture experts and scholars.
“This forum will cover many important topics, including Sarawak’s development blueprint, digital economy, trade and investment, tourism, green economy, sustainable development and so on,” he said.
Ng was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Advancing Asia Economic Forum held here, which brought together elites from the Asian business communities to discuss grand events and inspire “business wisdom” and economic development in Asia.
The forum, he said, would cover all aspects of social economy, energy transition and renewable energy investment to nurture future economic talents and to spur national development, international economic cooperation, partnership, and new exciting ways for sustainable development of chambers of commerce, among others.
“It allows us to network and collaborate with business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals across Asia. By sharing experiences and insights, we can learn from best practices and develop more precise strategies for Sarawak’s economic development,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Advancing Asia Economic Think Tank, a powerful resource network that provides the industry players with opportunities for in-depth cooperation with other regions in Asia, would be established at the forum.“We should jointly promote the development of Sarawak in
the fields of digital economy, green economy and sustainable development to achieve sustainable economic growth,” he added.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, when launching the forum, had expressed the hope that the event would achieve the goal of jointly driving the trade sector in Asia.
“It is our great hope to see this business forum to be able to give birth to a strategic direction so that Asia becomes the main business location in the future,” he said.
The forum themed ‘Business meetings for maximum group benefit’ was held to bring together elites from the Asian business community to develop the region’s economy.
Through the event, he believed collective efforts among businesses and industry players can be brought together to boost the growth of the Asian economy together.
