SIBU: Members of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth Wing Sibu Zone have been encouraged to view the party as a place to learn the ropes of politics.
PBB vice president Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee stressed on the importance of gaining exposure and knowledge in political roles for newcomers in politics.
“Consider PBB as a ‘university’ to gain knowledge and become high-integrity politicians who prioritise the people,” he said in his speech at the launching ceremony of Sibu Zone PBB Youth Wing at a renowned hotel here today (Oct 7).
Dr Annuar, who is also the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development, advised the youth members not to focus on seeking positions within the party but rather to prioritise leadership, dedication, and serving the people.
“Do not use the party to elevate yourself for the sake of positions. Let your dedication be sincere, and let the people see it. When your dedication shines, the people themselves will lift you up,” he added.
The Nangka assemblyman also urged members to use PBB as a platform for cooperation with various ethnic groups in Sarawak and to avoid division based on political differences.
“PBB does not advocate division among the people but leads especially the Bumiputera in Sarawak. This should be understood by our new youth wing members.
“We want PBB to be strong and foster cooperation among Malays, Iban, Melanau, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, and others as the party’s mission for the people,” he stressed.
Dr Annuar said that the establishment of the new Youth Wing in PBB is to provide a proper platform for young people to be involved in politics and join PBB.
Therefore, he expressed his gratitude to the youth for choosing PBB as their political platform.
The PBB Youth Wing Sibu Zone consists of five branches: Nangka, Dudong, Bawang Assan, Pelawan, and Bukit Assek.
Also present were the Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan, political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Sayed Azmee Wan Junaidi, chief of the PBB Youth Wing Sibu Zone Councillor Raden Khairulzaman Raden Bustari and others.
