“We are committed to supporting students not only in Sarawak but throughout Malaysia and the rest of the world. We will do our utmost, God willing, to ensure their marketability in Johor,” he said this after the Johor @ Sarawak Youth Aspiration Talk programme at the Student Pavilion UNIMAS on Monday night.

During the event, he also pledged an RM5,000 administrative fund to the Persatuan Anak Johor in Sarawak, enabling them to organise small-scale initiatives aimed at fostering friendships.

“This aligns with our Menteri Besar’s vision. He has emphasised that we must not neglect Johor students, regardless of where they are. We must address their concerns and grievances. These individuals should feel proud living in Sarawak and should strive to elevate the reputation of Johor,” he added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs) Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Al-Khalid Othman shared that, of the total number, over 80 Johor students at UNIMAS are studying science and technology. Specifically, 33 students are majoring in engineering, 71 in computer science, 59 in resource science, 19 in cognitive science, and 69 in medicine.

“What fills me with immense pride is the significant number of medical students. This highlights that the Johor students here are truly outstanding. We hope that, in the future, we will achieve a workforce comprising 60 per cent of skilled workers in the technical field,” he said.

The session, which took place from 8 to 11 pm, saw participation from over 200 Johor students who listened to presentations, received responses, and had the opportunity to ask questions either verbally or in written form.
