MIRI: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has proposed for Block SK433 Adong Kecil West field here to be named “The Grand New Lady of Sarawak”.
Abang Johari made the remark when officiating at the Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) and Petra Energy Berhad (PETRA) first onshore drilling at Canada Hill, today (Oct 11).
“I have a suggestion, especially to Miri mayor (Adam Yii). While this location is known as ‘The Grand Old Lady’, perhaps that Adong Kecil West field, we can call it ‘The Grand New Lady of Sarawak’,” he said.
The first drilling at the SK433 block marked a significant milestone of the inaugural Onshore Petroleum Contract that was awarded in July 2021 to Petros under the Sarawak Oil Mining Ordinance, 1958.
According to a joint media release by Petros and Petra, Block SK433 covers an area of approximately 3,100km and is located in the Northern Region of Sarawak and includes the Adong Kecil West field.
