KUCHING: The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) has launched a search and rescue (SAR) mission for a missing 50-year-old man, Kamarau Adong, at Reservoir Park here last night (Oct 13).

The initial call came from a police station at 8pm when the victim’s wife reported her husband’s disappearance in the forest.

“According to reports from Bomba, the victim and his wife entered the park area early in the morning, around 7 am, to search for bamboo shoots.

“However, the victim did not return from the park, and his wife filed a police report in the afternoon of the same day,” it said.

Following the report, a team from the Padungan fire station was dispatched to the scene.

The Operations Commander has informed that currently, the SAR team has completed the search in the first and second sector, while currently commencing the search in the third sector.

Additionally, the operation is receiving assistance from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Drone unit.
