MIRI: The 12th Battalion General Operation Force (GOF) Miri seized contraband cigarettes and beer worth a total of RM308,127.12 during ‘Ops Taring Kontraband’ in Batu Niah on Tuesday morning.
The items seized were 1,148,160 sticks of white and clove cigarettes and 316 boxes of beers.
According to Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu today, the contrabands were seized during a raid carried out at a double-story house in Niah last Tuesday at 8 am, as it was suspected of having smuggled items.
The house caretaker was also detained.
Alexson added that the house was used as transit points before the contraband items are moved to other locations and in oil palm plantations.
