KUCHING: Sunway Group Property Development has signed two memorandums of understanding (MoU) with the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) and the Sarawak Foundation.
The MoU signing ceremony was also witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during the High Performance Team (HPT) Retreat 2023 at the Royal Perak Golf Club, Ipoh, on today (Oct 19).
According to a statement from Sunway, this collaboration not only reinforces Sunway’s commitment to modernise and innovative property development in Sarawak but also outlines a transformative phased project that will reshape the regional landscape.
The first MoU was signed between Sunway and the Sarawak Foundation’s Trustee Board regarding the transformation of 119 prime acres of land in Kuching into a ‘state-of-the-art’ Digital Medical Village Development. This aims to explore a modern integrated smart city master plan, feasibility studies, and design innovations.
Sunway and the Sarawak Foundation will also jointly explore the ‘Build-Operate-Own’ or ‘Build-Operate-Transfer’ business model, known for its association with Sunway.
The second MoU was signed between Sunway and LCDA regarding the redevelopment of a 497-acre urban renewal area in the Bukit Assek area. Through this collaboration, Sunway takes inspiration from the award-winning Sunway City Kuala Lumpur to revitalise the city with an integrated modern urban master plan, design, and feasibility.
As an exclusive collaborator for this project, Sunway will work with LCDA to bring this vision to life.
