BINTULU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has expressed their gratitude for the support extended by Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) in the upcoming Jepak by-election.
GPS Election director cum Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan emphasised that GPS’ remarkable track record in leading and administering Sarawak was a key factor that piqued PSB’s interest in providing staunch support for GPS in the Jepak by-election.
“We are appreciative of their enthusiasm to support us.
“We accept (the support) and we are grateful because of their awareness to provide support,” he said during a santai programme with villagers at Balai Raya Kampung Jepak today.
The upcoming Jepak by-election will be a three-cornered contest, featuring GPS’ candidate Iskandar Turkee, Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Stevenson Joseph Sumbang, and Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak’s (ASPIRASI) candidate Chieng Lea Ping.
The Jepak state seat fell vacant following the passing of GPS incumbent, Datuk Talib Zulpilip on September 15.
The Election Commission has set Nov 4 as Polling day. The constituency has 22,804 voters, comprising 22,761 ordinary voters and 43 police personnel.
