BARAM: Rising water levels are holding up construction work on the new Tutoh Bridge which has already reached 76.32 per cent completion.
Its developers told Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Deparment (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala about the challenges they are facing when he made a site visit recently.
The rising water levels not only affected the bridge construction but also posed a risk to workers, they told him.
Nevertheless Gerawat expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the 207 metre bridge.
“The completed Tutoh Bridge will facilitate the movement of residents between Miri and Limbang, including nearby villages such as Long Seridan, Long Lellang, and others,” he was quoted as saying in a Ukas report.
The Tutoh Bridge is being built near the location of the previous bridge that collapsed due to a flood in 2021.
