KUCHING: A car that had recently been in an accident ignited in flames at Kampung Kolong 2 in the early hours of today (Oct 28).
Reports from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) indicate that they were alerted to the incident at 2.44am, leading to the dispatch of a team from the Petra Jaya fire station to the location.
Upon their arrival, they verified the occurrence of a car fire, which had originally been in an accident on October 27 at the same spot.
“Extinguishing was performed using 1 water stream from the apparatus until the fire was fully extinguished.
“Based on the assessment and information from the police, the fire is believed to have been caused by the car’s battery.
“After ensuring that the fire was completely extinguished and the situation was safe, the fire department team reported back to the station. The operation concluded at 3:20am,” it said.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still under investigation.
