SARAWAK RIVER ICON … Everyone knows that the ‘perahu tambang,’ or river taxi, has been the icon of the Sarawak River.
Here, Siti Norlela Ismail, who operates a stall at the Borneo Craft and Textile Festival 2023, is showing a locally made replica of the ‘perahu tambang’ designed as a souvenir.
Made from Nyatoh wood, the replicas are sold for prices ranging from RM30 to RM550.00.
