BINTULU: Husband and wife duo Abbas Sulak (71) and Ross Dolgapar (78) didn’t miss the opportunity to fulfil their voting duties in the Jepak state by-election.

For this elderly couple, it has been a tradition for them to cast their votes every time an election has been held since Sarawak’s independence.

Even though Ross is now unable to move on her own and relies on a wheelchair, it doesn’t dampen her spirit.

After all, she’s a former Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Jepak Women’s Wing chief.

Abbas, who used to work at an airline company, said they have always been enthusiastic about fulfilling their democratic responsibility since Sarawak gained independence.

“Indeed, I have been casting my vote since as far back as 1963,” he said after casting his vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Jepak on Saturday (Nov 4).

Since the polling station opened at 7.30 am, the voting process has been running smoothly and efficiently.
