KUCHING: The Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (Nov 7) fined a man RM2,000 or four months in jail for possessing a stolen stainless steel grille.
Abdul Hafiz Jimi, 40, from Kampung Tabuan Hulu pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 411 of the Penal Code, before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan.
He was charged with possessing the stolen fence at a playground at Lorong Stutong 16 here at about 11am on Nov 3.
According to the facts of the case, on Nov 3, at around 8am, the complainant, who arrived at his shop, found that the stainless steel grille at the back of the shop had been stolen.
The complainant then made a police report for further action and investigation.
The estimated loss suffered by the complainant is around RM2,000.
On the same day, police arrested Abdul Hafiz at around 11am at a playground in Lorong Stutong 16 and seized a stainless steel grille in his possession.
The shop owner later confirmed that the seized grille was his.
