KUCHING: The government is continuously enhancing the understanding of Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) on their role, functions and responsibilities towards community development.
According to a statement from the Community Development Department (Kemas) Sarawak, as many as 80 implementing officers and JKKK members of Zone One (Kuching) were involved in the Rural Community Leadership Empowerment Course recently.
It involved JKKK Kampung Temaga Dayak Sematan, Kampung Sungai Tapang, Kampung Subang, Kampung Lobang Batu Awang Tebedu, Kampung Jaie Ulu Sadong Jaya, Kampung RGC Lot Phase One Gedong, Rumah Panjang Kathleen Palau Lubok Antu and Kampung Lot Sungai Penggan Spaoh Betong.
“The course aimed to improve understanding of the roles, functions and responsibilities related to community development in their respective villages,” it said.
The two-day course held in the state capital provided them guidance on governance and village administration.
“It covered the work of planning, coordinating and implementing programmes and activities towards community-driven village development.
“At the same time, as an added value, encouraging the process of rural development in an inclusive manner with the cooperation of various public and private sectors,” it added.
