KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a jobless man to six months in prison and a RM3,000 fine for possessing 0.86g of methamphetamine and being involved in substance abuse.
Mohd Azri Bakar, 33, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi to two charges framed under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Zubaidah sentenced Azri to six months in prison on the first charge of possessing 0.86g of methamphetamine in front of a house in Kampung Santubong, Sungai Tekoyong at around 5.15pm on May 26.
He was fined RM3,000 or three months in prison on the second charge of abusing the drugs.
In addition, the court ordered him to be placed under police supervision for two years after serving his prison term.
