KUCHING: The Sarawak Police Contingent Headquarters’ (IPK) pavilion and covered open hall were inaugurated by outgoing Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri on today (Nov 9).
Both facilities, with a combined value of RM496,849, were funded by the Sarawak government.
In his speech, Comm Mohd Azman expressed his gratitude to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and the state government for their invaluable contribution.
He added that the contingent has conducted various programme with these facilities, including the state-level National Month and Flying of Jalur Gemilang Flag celebration, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Healthy Lifestyle programme and others.
“Therefore, I hope that the contingent will diligently maintain and care for these new facilities, just like how one would take care of their personal property.
“I also encourage everyone at Sarawak IPK to remain focused and committed to preserving and supporting the government’s policies aimed at the community’s wellbeing.”
The pavilion, standing at 860 feet in height and constructed by Adenan Enterprise, began construction on Dec 20 the previous year and was completed on March 20 this year.
This rectangular-shaped facility features a curved roof, fans, lights, tiled floors, and flagpoles, with the capacity to accommodate up to 25 individuals.
Additionally, the pavilion construction project, valued at RM296,850, includes a storeroom at the back for storing equipment like chairs, tables, PA systems, and related items.
Meanwhile, the covered open hall, constructed by Navipec Enterprise Sdn Bhd, commenced construction on Jan 20 of the same year and was fully completed on March 20.
The hall boasts a modern roof design spanning 47m in length and 11m in width, equipped with six fans and six heavy-duty spotlights. The cost of the covered open hall project is RM199,999.
