BINTULU: A male driver became trapped in his van following an accident in the early hours of this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving a distress call at 5.52 am about the incident, which occurred near My Destiny Road towards Bintulu Port.
Responding swiftly, a rescue team from the Kidurong fire station was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the firemen initiated a rescue operation using special equipment to compress the van’s door to free the victim, whose ankle was trapped between the accelerator and clutch pedals.
The victim was extricated and handed over to a medical team for further treatment at the hospital.
After securing the safety of the area, the team returned to their station.
