MIRI: Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin has called on the Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) staff to transform the organisation into one that is adaptive, responsive, flexible and focused.
Stressing the need for efficient decision-making, the minister stated that leveraging digital technology as the main catalyst for service delivery is crucial in the age of rapid technological development.
Speaking during the ministry’s integrity and governance day celebration in Kuching on Monday (Nov 13), Lee stressed that government agencies should not lag behind in embracing tech-enabled approaches.
He urged the full utilisation of digital technology to enhance the efficiency of government agencies, ensuring swift implementation and a sense of urgency in problem-solving.
At the event, Lee and MOTS staff made a corruption-free pledge as part of the commitment to maintaining integrity.
He highlighted that in line with Sarawak’s goal to become a developed state by 2030, precise and committed efforts from all civil servants are essential.
“Any forms of corruption should be avoided; otherwise, the planned initiatives will be delayed,” he pointed out.
The celebration featured several talks, including discussions on integrity culture in organisational governance by the Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit from the Sarawak Premier’s Department; malpractice and abuse of power among civil servants by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission; and mental health awareness among civil servants by Sentosa Hospital, Kuching.
Deputy Minister for Transport Sarawak I (Aviation and Road), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil; and MOTS permanent secretary Dato Ir Alice Jawan Empaling were also present at the event.
