SIBU: A total of 35 participants attended an empowerment course (Management and Preparation of Meeting Minutes) for the ketua masyarakat and ketua kaum (KMKK) and secretaries of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) for the Bukit Assek constituency today (Nov 14).
The course, held at the Malay Union Club hall here, was organised by the Bukit Assek Service Centre in collaboration with the Sibu District Office.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek said the course served as a programme to deliver information related to procedures and guidelines related to the management of KMKK and JKKK meeting minutes.
He said it aimed to provide exposure, knowledge and skills to the community about the criteria for writing quality meeting minutes.
“I am confident that this course can help all KMKK chairmen and JKKK secretaries and equip them with various knowledge and skills in preparing meeting minutes or meeting notices through the lectures, practical exercises and group discussions.
“I hope that through courses like this, knowledge and information related to KMKK and JKKK can be disseminated to the community in general and residents in particular,” he said.
Chieng also urged all committee members of KMKK and JKKK to be the link between the government and the local residents.
“We must take the initiative to organize meaningful community projects and always focus and prioritize all the needs of the people,” he added.
