Man fined RM1,500 for mischief

SIBU: A 48-year-old man was today (Nov 15) fined RM1,500, in default, six months’ jail by a Magistrate’s Court here for causing mischief by damaging the front gate and breaking the glass window of a house.

Magistrate Flavian Edward Henry handed down the sentence after Ngu Choon Leng of Jalan Bertuah pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the charge sheet, the accused had caused mischief by damaging the front gate and breaking the glass window of the house owned by Ngu Leh Wuon, with a hoe which incurred damages amounting to approximately RM425.

The incident took place at a house in Jalan Salim on Oct 2 at about 2.30pm.

The act was recorded by closed-circuit television (CCTV) at the complainant’s house where the accused intentionally damaged the complainant’s properties.
