O, of the march of time
It is merciless, determined and unstoppable
Aye, indeed it is not stoppable
It’s not like water — vast as the ocean it may be,
But still it’s containable in some form
Time, my friend has a mind of its own

But not time, no not time
Time waits for and listens to no man
Time marches on, and on
Do you think you can catch it?
Go ahead and try!
It’s an exercise in futility, a fool’s errand

The last 30 days, they went like that
The last 12 months, gone just like that
The last 10 years, where did they go?
All gone, gone with the wind
Never to return, no never again
For the clock doesn’t turn in reverse

Indeed, man is at loss
For time waits not for him
He is not present in the moment he has
His mind wanders to the past, and the future
And of the now, he doesn’t own it as well
‘I have time!’— is a lie he always falls for

So what is that most precious of things
And worthy of respect — if not time?
And what, and which time, is that?
Nothing else — but the moment now!
The very moment that you have now
Yes, the now is the most precious of time
