SIBU: Persatuan Kebajikan Teresang Dayak Sarawak lauded the state government’s move to continue assisting Sarawak graduates to repay their National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans for those who have repaid 30 per cent or more of their loans.

Its chairman Robinson Corey said the move demonstrates the Sarawak government’s concern for borrowers diligently repaying their loans.

He hoped the incentive will aid PTPTN borrowers in fulfilling their repayment obligations.

“We welcome this initiative to assist Sarawakian graduates. This is clear evidence of the Sarawak government’s concern under the leadership of Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg. Thank you, Abang Jo,” he said when contacted yesterday (Nov 20).

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg had said RM30 million would be set aside for PTPTN loan repayment the 2024 State Budget.

“A 30 per cent loan repayment discount will be given to eligible recipients as incentives for the settlement of their outstanding balance,” he said when tabling the budget in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.
