KUCHING: A church group has created a Christmas tree using 200 lighted durian fruits.
The “edible” tree was set up by Good News Fellowship Church which held a Christmas street party from 7pm till 11pm on Sunday.
Pastor Jeffery Wei said as it is durian season now, the church committee decided to create a wow factor for the evening.
“We bought the durians at Padawan highland for RM800 to give a treat to the church members and the public,” he said.
He said it took four hours for the committee to set up the tree.
“However, the tree lasted less than hour as the durians were eaten by more than 500 people,” he said. “We are happy to have been able to share the joy of eating durians with the people.”
