MIRI: A man in his 20’s who works with a statutory body here, was allegedly fleeced of RM3,000 by a ‘landlord woman’ by the name of ‘Nur Sya Izwan’ for a non-existent rental room.
Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the victim was looking online for a room to rent on a facebook page, when he was contacted by the woman, who claimed to be a landlord.
A police report on the incident was received on Monday (November 20).
Alexson said the man was interested to rent the room, which was offered by the suspect and had made several transactions to a bank account amounting to RM3,000.
The man realised that he had been scammed when he could no longer contact the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
