BETONG: The increase in the state budget for the coming year shows that Sarawak is constantly promoting sustainable economic growth.
Prof. Madya Dr. Bolhan Budeng, chairman of the Saribas Islamic Community Association (Perwaris), said the proposed budget of RM12.363 billion is a visionary and sustainable package.
“It is a significant development plan for the well-being of the people of Sarawak.
“The substantial increase is a positive sign that Sarawak is constantly developing with sustainable planning,” he said in reaction to the tabling of the Supply Bill 2024 in the State Legislative Assembly on Monday.
The lecturer at i-CATS University College said by focusing on the well-being of the people and creation of opportunities it would encourage sustainable economic growth.
“The development of the people’s well-being, which is the essence of the budget presented by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, aligns with the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
“I see Sarawak moving towards the right development goals by fully utilising the available resources and providing an advanced budget,” he said.
He is also convinced that the Sarawak government is focusing on balanced development.
“The main agenda is to give special attention to both urban and rural areas for things that are necessary, such as basic needs.
“The allocation for the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and others will accelerate rural development to improve the socio-economy of rural communities, with an emphasis on the construction and service sectors,” he said.
