KUCHING: Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen has urged everyone not to panic following the news that SMK Kuching High has received a bomb threat via an email.

He said this during his visit to the school together with the Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong on Wednesday.

“This is the second bomb scare via email in Kuching school.

“We are very concerned for the safety of the students and teachers as well as the police officers undertaking the inspection work,” he said in a statement.

He also urged the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to carry out an investigation and track the sender of the email.

“Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education should quickly come up with the necessary standard operating procedure (SOP) and quick response procedure in such a situation,” he added.

Earlier, students and staff of SMK Kuching High have been evacuated after the school received a supposed bomb threat via an email.

It is made to understand that the school received the threat at 11.30 am.
