PADAWAN: A local man died on the spot after his motorcycle swerved and collided with an oncoming vehicle along Jalan Landeh last Friday night (Nov 24).
The victim is identified as 20-year-old Romeo Ginkin, who hailed from Rh Tagok, Marau Baru Pantu in Sri Aman.
Padawan police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the accident happened around 10pm when the victim was heading towards Mile 10 from Landeh Heights.
“The victim’s motorcycle is said to have swerved into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle, which resulted in the victim being thrown onto the road.
“As a result, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement.
Investigations also found that the victim did not possess a driver’s licence.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
