LUNDU: Students interested in pursuing further education need to take advantage of the various initiatives introduced by the Sarawak government.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said that students should explore the opportunities provided, as announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in the recent Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting.
“The state government is currently providing free tuition fees for higher education institutions in Sarawak, giving free laptops to B40 Sarawak students continuing their studies, and providing book vouchers worth RM500,” said Billy when officiating at the Closing Ceremony of the Motivational Camp Towards Excellence for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2023 at SMK Lundu here on Saturday.
He also stressed the criticality of choosing university courses, which influence future career paths.
In addition to educational support, Billy announced a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM10,000 for the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the Alumni Association of SMK Lundu.
