SIBU: Police have identified a dead man found afloat between two ferries in Batang Igan, Jalan Sungai Maaw yesterday (Nov 28).

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said an Indonesian woman identified the victim as her husband based on a tattoo on his right arm and the blue shorts he was wearing.

“According to the woman’s report, her husband was last seen three days ago, clad in the same blue shorts.

“She revealed that her husband had been struggling with mental health problems,” he said.

The case is being classified as sudden death, and a post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow (Nov 30) to determine the cause of death.

Yesterday at around 8.15 am, the police received public information regarding  the discovery of a body near a shipyard.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was found shirtless, wearing only the blue shorts.

Police said initial examinations found no signs of external injuries or foul play.
