KUCHING: In anticipation of Sarawak Day on July 22 next year, the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) will collaborate with Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) in hosting a range of community activities aimed at fostering unity within the state.
The Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, emphasised that it will focus on nurturing a sense of patriotism, complementing the government’s ongoing physical development projects.
“Our key goal is to fortify the community’s sense of identity,” Abdullah said during the UKAS & DBP Strategic Cooperation Meeting here today (Dec 1).
He said that the planned initiatives include a public speaking competition centred on the theme of unity, among other events.
“We are also considering staging various artistic performances, such as theatre and dance, in partnership with the Sarawak Arts Council (MSS),” he added.
DBP director general Dr. Hazami Jahari also expressed strong support for the Sarawak government’s initiatives.
“DBP fully backs the state government through UKAS in its critical mission to enhance unity and cultivate a deeper love for the nation, particularly among Sarawak’s diverse racial communities,” he said.
