KUCHING: Timber industry players have been urged to make use of the Sarawak Timber Industry Information System (STIS), a digital revolution developed by the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) to reshapes the timber industry.
“STIS is an integrated digital solution that serves Sarawak’s timber industry by simplifying complex processes, centralising the issuance of timber licences and grading certificates, and making the industry more accessible and efficient,” the corporation said in a statement today.
It said STIS is a comprehensive digital platform to enhance the timber industry, benefiting various stakeholders, including the government, the timber industry, the ‘rakyat’, and supporting services provided by STIDC.
“STIS seamlessly connects with export and import licences, eliminating the red tape that used to bog down timber trade. It streamlines the regulatory process and heralds a new era of digital efficiency,” the corporation said.
STIDC also said STIS provides invaluable insights into export-import statistics while STIS’s advanced timber grading feature adds precision to the industry.
It said STIS’s transparent approach benefits the entire timber supply chain, creating employment opportunities and economic benefits for the local population.
