BINTULU: Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd (BPSB) and Altus Oil & Gas Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Altus) have officially inked a land utilisation agreement to establish a Liquid Mud Plant (LMP) at Bintulu Port, marking a significant milestone for the region’s oil and gas industry.

The signing ceremony, held at Wisma Kontena in Bintulu, was attended by representatives from various oil and gas companies, along with senior management from both BPSB and Altus.

Matshalleh Mohamad Etli, chief operating officer of BPSB, and Mohammad Taufik Othman, managing director of Altus Oil & Gas Malaysia Sdn Bhd, formally signed the agreement in the presence of Ruslan Abdul Ghani, group chief executive officer of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad.

In his address, Ruslan congratulated Altus on the landmark agreement, underscoring the growing importance of offshore oil and gas fields in Sarawak and the nation.

He stressed the significance of introducing the LMP at Bintulu Port and expressed hope for accelerated growth and prosperity within the oil and gas sector, particularly in the realms of exploration and drilling.

Ruslan reaffirmed BPSB’s commitment to collaborating with Altus across various areas to propel the state’s oil and gas sector forward.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Taufik expressed optimism about the LMP’s potential to support expanded oil and gas exploration activities, highlighting its positive impact on the sector.

With the establishment of the Liquid Mud Plant (LMP), BPSB aims to enhance its capacity to bolster oil and gas exploration activities.

Given the burgeoning oil and gas industry in Sarawak and Bintulu Port’s strategic positioning at the core of the state’s oil and gas hub, the port is primed to make substantial contributions toward the attainment of the state’s Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030.
