KUCHING: The Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) Road Race 1.0 Championship witnessed a remarkable victory as Indonesian cyclist Rakhmadhani M Djauhari, 34, secured the top spot in the men’s open category during the event held on Sunday.
Clocking an impressive time of 2 hours, 42 minutes, and 37 seconds for 120 kilometres, Rakhmadhani from Een’s Bike Club has solidified his championship status while taking home cash prize of RM2,000, a medal and a jersey.
Ridho Al Hafiz from Panther Pontianak closely followed with a recorded time of 2 hours, 42 minutes, and 49 seconds, securing the second position while Aizat Osman from DBKU Cycling Team claimed the third spot with a time of 2 hours, 44 minutes, and 13 seconds.
Rakhmadhani, who hails from Pontianak, said the race track posed minimal challenges for him, as he had already gained familiarity from participating in multiple cycling tournaments held around the city here.
“The track is not much of a challenge for me, considering my previous involvements in tournaments here.
“Talking about the race route, some parts of the route were more challenging but overall it was enjoyable,” he said when met by reporters after the prize presentation ceremony at DBKU Arena, Bukit Siol here yesterday.
Furthermore, Rakhmadhani said the decision to partake in this competition was due to the attractive conditions of the route and the support of cycling enthusiasts.
He added that he would continue to commit in cycling championships in Sarawak in the future.
The DBKU Race Road 1.0 Championship saw the participation of 301 participants from both international and local cycling enthusiasts.
The competition featured five categories, namely the Open Men (120 kilometres), Open Master A (120km), Open Master B (60km), Open Women and Youth (60km).
