SIBU: Police arrested seven teenagers in connection with the alleged theft of three motorcycles in Taman Sibujaya last Sunday (Dec 10).
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said they had received three reports from the owners between 7 am and 10 am, on the disappearance of their vehicles and suspected them to have been stolen.
“Acting on information, a team comprising personnel from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Sibujaya Crime Prevention Patrol arrested two suspects aged 12 and 15.
“Following that, the police were led to the second arrest where five more suspects aged between 11 and 13 were taken into custody.
“They also recovered the three missing motorcycles from them. All of them together with the vehicles were brought to the police station for further actions,” he said in a statement.
Zulkipli added that the suspects, during interrogation, confessed to their involvement in the theft.
They are being remanded until Dec 13 to facilitate investigations under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to seven years and a fine, upon conviction.
