KUCHING: A total of 15 veterans with disabilities (VKU) from the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Kuching received contributions during the contribution presentation ceremony for VKU here yesterday.
Kuching PVATM patron Dr Hazland Abang Hipni said giving these contributions was one of activities in PVATM Kuching to show care for its members.
“Thank you to all PVATM Kuching members who have fought in defending the country while serving in the Malaysian army (ATM) once.
“The contribution is part of the present generation’s responsibility in appreciation of the services and contributions of the country’s fighters. Although this contribution is just a small token, it is a form of sincerity that comes from our hearts.
“It is hoped that this donation will reduce the burden of PVATM members and families in the coming days,” Dr Hazland said.
He said this in his speech during the contribution handing over ceremony at the Sarawak State Library (Pustaka) here.
Dr Hazland, who is also the Demak Laut state assemblyman also called on each PVATM member to continue supporting the state government’s efforts in developing Sarawak in its own mold.
“The change in leadership after May 9 has set different directions for the federal government and the state government. At present, the state government has shaped its leadership and development on its own.
“For the state government at the moment, its main focus is to fight for the rights and interests of Sarawak as spelled out in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to enable more state revenue to be derived from local oil and natural resources to be spent on developing Sarawak in the future.
“In fact, the state government has never neglected the federal government’s efforts up to this moment as long as it benefits the people of Sarawak,” he added.
At the event, Dr Hazland presented donations to PVATM members who were injured in services or suffer from chronic illnesses, widows of PVATM and PVATM children who have succeeded and excelled in academic field.
