KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appointed Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, known for his economic expertise and experience with Petronas and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), as the Second Minister of Finance.
Political observer Datuk Peter Minos said that Amir’s appointment comes at a crucial time as the country grapples with economic challenges, including the rising cost of living and the depreciation of the ringgit.
“With a strategic mindset that encompasses the broader economic landscape, he aims to alleviate public concerns by addressing key economic challenges,” Minos said yesterday.
Minos also recognised the importance of Amir’s role and expressed confidence in his abilities to manage the nation’s finances effectively.
“Amidst the broader cabinet reshuffle, focusing on a seasoned technocrat like him signals a commitment to addressing critical economic issues. This offers hope for a brighter future as he navigates the path towards economic stability and progress,” he added.
