KUCHING: The appointment of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to helm Energy Transition and Public Utilities is particularly fitting, given his deep understanding of Sarawak’s advancements in renewable energy, green energy, and carbon trading, said Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.
The Women, Childhood and Community Well-being Development Minister highlighted the importance of Sarawak’s progress in the green sector receiving due approval and recognition from the federal minister overseeing these matters.
“Fadillah’s new portfolio is coincidental. As a Sarawakian himself, he will better understand Sarawak under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg in the area of green energy.
“This understanding is crucial when the federal government enacts related laws that need to consider Sarawak’s interest,” she said in a statement today.
She also supported Fadillah’s appointment as the minister responsible for Sabah and Sarawak Affairs, stating that there are high expectations for him as a Sarawakian minister to protect Sarawak’s interest as enshrined in the Malaysian Agreement 1963.
