SIBU: Involvement of parents, community and the private sector as committed partners in education are very important to the success of Wave 3 of Malaysian Education Development Plan.
Sibu District Education Officer Ahli Chikba said all parties from the Ministry of Education (MoE), the State Education Department (JPN) and the District Education Office (PPD) should work together.
He said this cooperation includes involving the school management to deal with all issues, especially cases of bullying, dropouts and crime.
“All parties must mobilise resources, especially in dealing with all the problems that affect the community and overcome them by consensus,” he said at SMK Lanang’s Excellent Award Presentation Ceremony at its school’s hall here yesterday.
Also present at the ceremony were the principal of SMK Lanang, Kho Say Wei and the deputy president of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SMK Lanang, Nima Lee.
Ahli said the success of a quality education system also plays a role in producing students who excel in academics, sports, skills and culture.
Meanwhile, he congratulated the school for being able to organise such a ceremony to celebrate student excellence.
“Success is not something that is easily achieved without effort, perseverance, patience in dealing with the twists and turns of life, especially the environment that is not stimulating, the influence of negative peers and the atmosphere of the home that lacks harmony,” he said.
Therefore, he hoped that teachers would always respond to the MoE’s call to produce outstanding students.
“Students graduating today, I call upon you, multiply your efforts as if you are on the battlefield to fight for victory,” Ahli said, adding that an event like this was an appreciation and motivation for them.
