Four escape unscathed as house ravaged in morning fire

LUNDU: Four residents, including two teenagers, managed to escape to safety when their single-storey house at Jalan Satu here caught fire this morning.

No injuries were reported as the occupants, aged between 15 and 65, acted fast to evacuate the home.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Lundu station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 7.58 am.

By the time the firefighters arrived at the scene the wooden house could not be saved. They had to resort to water from a nearby fire hydrant.

The flames caused 80 per cent damage to the wooden house. The team completed  their tasks at 8.20 am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still being ascertained.
