BINTULU: The Bintulu-Jepak Bridge is set to become the latest attraction here after its completion around October 2024.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said that the bridge, which is currently 66.7 per cent completed, will have its own unique features.

“The components of this bridge will include uniform decorative lights and vertical lifts on the Bintulu side for visitors to enjoy the view,” he said during his site visit to coastal road construction and preparation project Package 5 and the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge recently.

Aidel added that besides the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge, the Integrated Administration Centre (IAC) here, which will house all government departments here will also be completed by October next year.

“We are satisfied with its progress, which is currently at 59 per cent, in line with the implementation schedule despite some technical problems faced earlier,” he said.

He also disclosed the government’s plan to build a dual-lane carriageway connecting Bintulu Airport and IAC Bintulu over a length of 4.2 kilometres.

“Upon completion, it will reduce travel time by two-thirds,” said Aidel.

Meanwhile, Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee, who was also present, expressed gratitude to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS)-led government for providing the local residents with the opportunity to enjoy development progress.

“Residents in nearby areas such as Serupai and Tatau can access government services at IAC. The presence of these new routes will also further stimulate development in the Jepak area,” said Iskandar.
