MIRI: Miri City Council is offering a 50 per cent discount for vehicle owners to settle any of their car parking compounds promptly by Dec 31.
In its statement, it said cases where Letters Of Demand (LOD) had been served or pending legal actions would not be able to enjoy the 50 per cent discount.
“After the grace period, the council will proceed with legal action and court action in order to recover such outstanding compound fees with effect from January 1, 2024.
“Prior to this, the council has adopted a softer approach for the recovery.
“However, there are still a considerable amount of outstanding compound fees yet to be recovered,” it said.
The council added that it had been left with no other alternative other than to institute legal action.
It advised vehicle owners to take advantage of the present amnesty campaign called “Bayar Parkir Kompaun Anda” or “Pay Your Parking Compound” to pay out their outstanding parking compounds.
“Vehicle owners are also requested to log in to the Miri City Council website https://miricouncil.gov.my, Borneo Parking Systems Sdn. Bhd website https://www.borneoparking.com or using the Borneo Park Miri App.
“To find out whether they have any outstanding parking compound fees. Alternatively, they can call on Miri City Council Car Park Section at 085-438930/ 085-418734 for further inquiries,” it added.
