KUCHING: The State Education Department (JPNS) has commended the Education Ministry (MOE) for assigning 1,108 new teachers to Sarawak, a blend of graduates from both public and private universities.
The department in a statement today (Dec 23) said of this total, 422 teachers have been placed in primary schools, while 686 teachers will serve in secondary schools, with their placements effective from December 28.
“With the placement of the teachers, JPNS appreciates the support given by MOE, the Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Ministry (MEITD), and the Sarawak Branch Education Services Commission (SPP) in helping to overcome the shortage of teachers in Sarawak,” it said.
The department also reaffirmed its dedication to collaborate closely with the ministries, SPP, and stakeholders, emphasising the importance of addressing the ongoing challenge of teacher shortages in Sarawak.
