SARIKEI: Six students who were affected by a recent fire at Jalan Kin San, here received vital school supplies to support their educational needs.

Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii contributed the school necessities with the aim of assisting the students ahead of the upcoming school session.

Representatives from the Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre, including Kapitan Ling Dien Yong and Kapitan Ling Sien Chuong, facilitated the distribution of the aid from Huang to the recipients during a simple ceremony held recently.

The service centre also contributed essential food items to alleviate the hardships faced by the affected families.

In the fire on Dec 21, 14 residents, including elderly individuals and young children from four families residing in a two-storey house were affected.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway, with the total extent of the losses yet to be as ascertained.

Staff of the Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre provide essential food items to the families.
