KUCHING: As the final moments of the year unfold, families all over eagerly prepare to usher in the New Year, blending cherished traditions with hopeful aspirations.

The stories of New Year’s Eve, from heartwarming family reunions to fresh starts, capture the season’s spirit.

Worldwide, families use New Year’s Eve to share hopes and dreams for the future.

Each family celebrates uniquely, but all share the common theme of bidding farewell to the old year and embracing the New Year’s opportunities.

Izreen Fara Abdul Kadir and her husband maintain a yearly tradition of checking into a hotel to watch the dazzling fireworks.

However, this year’s celebration is bittersweet due to the loss of Izreen’s grandfather in 2022.

Traditionally, her family would gather for a grand barbecue at their home, celebrating both the New Year and her late grandfather’s birthday.

This year is different without him.

Reflecting on the past year, the 29-year-old mother highlighted her achievements, such as meeting goals and learning from new experiences.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Danielson Ngo is preparing for a special New Year’s celebration filled with family warmth and church traditions.

He is on the brink of completing his master’s degree, a testament to his hard work and dedication.

Danielson shared his hopes for the coming year, including a grant and a scholarship, which would mark a triple win in his academic journey.

These achievements signify not only personal success but also future contributions to his field.

Jasica Tatat and her family eagerly embrace New Year’s Eve, still excited from the recent Christmas celebrations.
